Severe Weather Threat continues to grow in confidence among forecasters…

By late this evening a line of storms will have likely developed and will begin moving into western portions of the Florida Panhandle and Southeast Alabama.

Current timing of these storms suggests this line could get into south east Alabama as early as 11:00pm-12:00am, and as late as 5:00am Friday morning.

In regards to our viewing area, storms could move through as early as 2:00am or as late as 9:00am.

Additionally, locations further east near Valdosta should see this line of storms as early as 6:00am or as late as 11:00am.

It’s important to note the timing of this event is fairly uncertain, but forecasters are confident in  the threat for damaging winds in some of the stronger severe storms.

Wind gusts could reach as high as 80 mph with the possibility of a few Tornadoes.

The storm prediction center has placed much of the region in an Enhanced Risk (LEVEL 3 of 5) for severe weather overnight and into early Friday morning.

With the severe threat coming in the overnight hours, IT IS CRUCIAL that you have multiple ways of receiving weather alerts overnight.

  • IDENTIFY LOCATIONS IN YOUR PLACE OF RESIDENCE THAT ARE THE LOWEST AND MOST INTERIOR SO YOU CAN SHIELD YOURSELF SHOULD YOU BE UNDER A WARNING
  • BE SURE YOUR CELL PHONE IS FULLY CHARGED AND EMERGENCY NOTIFICATIONS ARE TURNED ON.
  • PREPARE YOUR SAFETY KIT
  • MONITOR WEATHER CONDITIONS THROUGHOUT TODAY AND TOMORROW
