Fitzgerald band teacher facing more charges

FITZGERALD, Ga. — A Fitzgerald High School Music Teacher faces more charges after a second victim has come forward in the case.

Jonathan Kelly who was arrested Thursday and charged with aggravated sodomy involving a former student, is now facing an additional charge for sexual assault involving a minor.

Investigators with the Ben Hill County Sheriff’s Office says more charges are forthcoming.

Since his arrest, Kelly has been transferred to a new jail.

According to a Facebook post, Kelly was recently hired as Band Director of Worth County High School. South Georgia TV contacted the Worth County Board of Education Office early Wednesday but has not received a statement from that office yet.
