Exchange Club of Albany hands out Book of Golden Deeds Award

(ALBANY, Ga)- The Exchange Club of Albany celebrated the newest recipient of the Book of Golden Deeds Award Friday evening.

The Book of Golden Deeds is one of the longest running awards for the exchange club.

It recognizes a member of the community for their charitable actions which may have gone unnoticed.

Exchange Club President, Wes Sadler says, “Volunteer service is one of our three major programs of service, and we enjoy supporting people in our community who are making it a better place to live.”

2019’s recipient is former Exchange Club President, Wallace Bonner.

Bonner is receiving the award for his efforts during the recovery from Hurricane Michael in Southwest Georgia.

WSWG spoke with Bonner following the ceremony, and he tells us, “It’s kind of the highest honor, anybody could give you. Having served with these gentlemen, and knowing everything they do in the community, for them to recognize me this way was just about the most special thing anybody could do.”

The original Book of Golden Deeds Award was created in 1919.
