Dectrick Styles, a 27-year-old male from Cordele, Georgia, was pronounced dead on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at Crisp Regional Hospital.

Crisp County E-911 sent Crisp County Sheriff’s Deputies to an address in the 2000 block of Highway 257 North on Saturday, November 19, 2022, around 2:30 a.m.

In reference to a suspicious individual. Communications officers received a 911 call regarding a male trying to enter a home following Crisp County E-911. A man was found on the ground across the street from the house when deputies arrived. Delegates revealed the male was experiencing issues breathing and had a few evident cuts on his arm.

 

The Deputies began performing CPR on him when he stopped responding. EMS personnel from Crisp County reached the scene. The ambulance was driven to Crisp Regional by a Crisp County Sheriff’s Deputy, and another Deputy performed CPR for EMS.

According to the preliminary investigation, Detrick Styles sought assistance at a residence in the 2000 block of Highway 257 North; Styles was welcome in because the residents knew him. He entered the house and broke a window, cutting his arm multiple times. Styles moved on from that house and went to another one, knocking on the door and requesting assistance.

The second house’s residents did not open the door and called 911 to report a suspicious individual at their door. At this time, there is no indication of wrongdoing. An autopsy and toxicology were requested, and the Crisp County Coroner was informed.

The investigation into this case is still ongoing.
