City of Thomasville invites members of community to 9th Annual Black History Parade and Celebration on February 28

THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The community is invited to come together on Saturday, February 28, for the 9th Annual Black History Parade and Celebration, a vibrant, family-friendly event honoring Black history, culture, and community excellence.

The parade will begin at 10:00 a.m., featuring more than 130 entries, making it the largest parade in the event’s history. This year’s parade will be led by Grand Marshals Pastor Corey King and Lady Geneva Scott-King, recognized for their leadership and service within the community.

Following the parade, the celebration will continue at The Ritz Amphitheater beginning at 11:00 a.m. The program will feature remarks from distinguished dignitaries Morris Austin, Sr., Judge Danette Mincey, and Leander Dale Barnhill, Esq., highlighting the importance of Black history and its lasting impact.

The celebration will be hosted by Emcee Reverend Hardy Clayton, Sr., with music provided by DJ Alex Perry, setting the tone for an energetic and engaging experience.

Attendees can enjoy a dynamic lineup of performances, including Scott Elementary School, Thomasville High School Drumline, Thomas County Central High School Drumline, West African Dancers and Drummers, and Southern Soul Steppers, bringing high-energy moves to get everyone dancing

In addition to the performances, the event will feature food trucks, children’s activities, and interactive experiences for families, including dancing and face painting, making it a fun and welcoming celebration for all ages.

The 9th Annual Black History Parade and Celebration is free and open to the public and serves as a powerful opportunity to celebrate culture, unity, and community pride.
