Badges for Life held in Dooly County
VIENNA, Ga. — People came out to city hall to honor a life by giving the gift of life Thursday.
The Dooly County Chamber of Commerce and Oneblood held the 5th Annual Badges for Life Blood drive in memory of several first responders that served the community. Those remembered were former Sheriff Van Peavy, Kermit Coker, Marvin Bowen, Ed Carr and Rodney Kevin “Moose” McNeese.
Amanda O’Neal Neissant serves as chairman of the Dooly County Chamber Board.
“The blood collected here goes on to save lives,” she said.
Donors received a Badges for Life t-shirt and workers with the chamber provided snacks, as well as, grilled hotdogs provided by the Vienna Volunteer Fire Department.
Dooly County Commissioner Eugene Cason, who was among the donors said that it is more important now than ever to be a blood donor.
“You never know when a family member may find themselves in a position where they need blood,” he said.
