Albany State University set to celebrate Founder’s Week

(ALBANY, Ga)- Starting Monday, April 1st, Albany State University will celebrate 116 years during Founder’s Week.

The event will run through Saturday, April 6th, with the school observing Founder’s Day on Friday, April 5th, in honor of Joseph Winthrop Holley. The theme of this year’s event is “Honoring the Legacy”.

In a news release from Albany State University, the week includes events such as the Distinguished Alumni Lecture Series, which will run through the week, featuring ASU alumni as speakers.

The Founders Day Convocation taking place Friday, will be lead by Keynote Speaker, Dr. C.W. Grant who served as ASU’s Vice-President of Student Affairs for more than 30 years.

Friday will also feature a naming ceremony for the 80,000 square foot Fine Arts Center on the East Campus.

Founders week will conclude Saturday, April 6th, with the Blue and Gold Scholarship Gala, serving as an opportunity to raise money for merit-based scholarships.
